Recording terms
Every version we have shown in the app
Before Stonekept Memories records or imports any audio, you read these terms on your device and tap to agree. Your device saves a record of that: the date, the version number and a fingerprint of the exact words you saw. This page keeps every version, so anyone can match a saved record to the wording it stands for.
The fingerprint is a SHA-256 hash of the terms' text, with each line below joined by a line break. Headings and button labels are not part of it. If the wording changes, it gets a new version number and a new fingerprint, and it is added here.
Version 2 (current)
Stonekept is built to know nothing about you. What you record is transcribed and turned into memories on this device. Nothing you record leaves it unless you turn on a feature that sends it, like Sync, which is end-to-end encrypted.

Transcription and the AI run on this device. With Sync on, your memories are end-to-end encrypted, so we can't read them.
Ask before you record others
If other people are in the conversation, make sure they are okay with being recorded. Some places require everyone's consent. Following the law where you are is your responsibility.

A live indicator shows the whole time a recording is on.
Recording and the law
In Canada and most of the US, you may record a conversation you are part of. Some places require everyone's consent, including California, Florida, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania and Washington, and countries such as Germany and France. Laws change, so check the rules where you are.
